Guidance tour over the cemetery
A guidance over the cemetery is a regular part of a stay at the Youth Meeting Center Lommel. You will get interesting information over the history, the construction and several special characteristics concerning the cemetery.
Time: The guidance lasts about an hour.
Costs:
40,00€ (max. 30 persons)
(For groups who are staying at the Youth Center the guidance is free of charge)

This activity is a substitute for the traditinoal guidance tour. The students will search for answers on basis of a questionary.

Chaosgame
This active game is specialy made for children who don't have much knowledge of history. The activity focuses on usage of information material and getting familiar with the environment.

Work at the cemetery
The work at the cemetery is a traditional element of the youthwork from the Volksbund. Cleaning the crosses, weeding or other work around the cemetery are very confronting.

Stories of soldiers
The students will deepen themselves into the lifes of a soldier based on original materials (pictures, letters, soldiers books and diaries).We will work in smaller groups towards a presentation depending on the group size.

Eyewitness
An eyewitnesses can give you an irreplaceable view of the past. The past of the war will become reality for the students. History will get combined with todays society with it's predudices and discrimination.

Where knowledge is, real peace is possible. Where ignorance reigns, true peace is impossible (Dalai Lama).

Tolerancetest
How tolerant are you? We offer a so-called "tolerance program": After an initial self-predicition over one's own tolerance the participants are asked to choose between possible reactions in specific situations. These everyday situations deal mainly with toppics such as tolerance towards foreigners, towards people holding different political views, and towards homosexuals. Afterwards there is an evaluation according to a certain system, giving points for certain answers. The young people are thus able to compare the final result with their initial self-evaluation. The final discussion offers a great opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences as well as to focus on certain questions in more detail. It has to be pointed out that this program is neither "school lessons" nor a substitute but a free discussion encouraging all participants to take part actively.
